Alliance Of Social Democrats ASD Constitution

  • That the Nigerian nation is in a socio-political turmoil is a given. Never in the history of Nigeria has it come as close to tribal, ethnic, religious and social disconnect as at present. It is our view that the destabilizing factor is rooted in horizontal administrative structures of the imperialists which promoted conflicts and mistrust amongst the peoples of Nigeria. This challenge was worsened by the absence of nationally accepted ideology and social cohesion programs and conflict resolution mechanisms.
  • The outcome of this governance structure was that while the “political class” saw the need to join forces in the struggle for self-determination, very little was done to build a common consensus among the citizenry. The aftermath is the prevailing leaning of the citizenry to cultural, ethnic and religious affiliations. This position which is rarely acknowledged in our national discuss, formed the sub-structure on which our founding fathers built the nation and has remained the greatest inhibitor to evolving a national ideology that encapsulates our building a strong indivisible and egalitarian nation. This mix of the colonial and post-colonial inhibitors has continued to bedevil Nigeria, and against the acceptable levels of tolerance hitherto, has reached a crescendo of better imagined proportions arising from the prominence of cultural and religious grand standing in the political process and the recruitment of both elected and appointed public officers in Nigeria. It is with this understanding that we came together in cognizance of our right to association and our commitment to build social cohesion and return Nigeria to the path of economic prosperity through the delivery of integrity, honor, dexterity and zero based level for ineptitude, nepotism and corruption in the service of our motherland.
  • In view of above; We Do Hereby and Solemnly Resolve to organise ourselves into a political organisation that would be fully involved in partisan politics in Nigeria, and by so, agree to equally give unto ourselves the following constitution that will ensure that our people participate fully in the politics of our country, having all agreed and accepted that all our conduct shall be bound and directed by its provision.
